Memories of a Revolution
a video documentary
created and edited by Johannes Birringer
camera/sound: Johannes Birringer
This project was created almost immediately after the Berlin Wall came down in November 1989 and presents a first reaction, by a German artist – who left his country during the 1970s and the years of turbulent left wing radicalism – to the ‚revolution‘ or popular Monday protest movement in the GDR (in a global context of the cold war period and its waning during the Gorbachev-Reagan era, the subsequent dissolution of the Soviet Union and the impending re-unification of the two Germanys).
